Whiten a Light Image Background
Whiten plain, light backgrounds with an adjustable brightness threshold. See the limits of this method and protect bright details in your subject.
Whiten a light background using brightness
Start with a plain, light background and adjust the threshold. Pixels with brightness at or above the threshold become white. This is a global brightness adjustment, not subject-aware background removal.
Worked example and checks
Start near 225. Lowering the threshold whitens more of the image, including bright clothing, skin highlights or pale ink. Compare those details with the original before saving. Uneven shadows or a patterned wall are unlikely to produce a clean result.
Why are parts of my subject disappearing?
The tool cannot distinguish the subject from the background. Increase the threshold to preserve more bright detail, or retake the photo against a uniformly lit plain background. Check the destination’s photo-editing rules before submitting.
